In an evaporator the sugar solution was concentrated from 10 BRIX to 60 BRIX. The amount of sugar solution to be treated is 3.6 ton/h and at 20C. Steam is available at a pressure of 3.2 atm with a steam quality of 98%, the condensate from this line leaves the heating element 8C below the steam condensation temperature. Radiation to the environment is estimated to be 3% from the heating element and 2% from the evaporator chamber. Consider that the transfer coefficient of any part of the system is 2.5 kcal/m2hC Determine: a) Economy of the evaporator (2 points) b) Area of heat transfer loss in m2 (5 points)
