Emails - direct vs. indirect

1. Review Unit 3 in the ESOL200 Course Manual. Write TWO emails to employees based on the scenario below. In the first email use a direct approach. In the second email, use an indirect approach. Remember, this not just about changing the organization of sentences - it means applying what you know about low and high context communication. Make sure each email has a subject line, salutation, closing, etc.

2. Then answer the following question:

If you were a manager, which approach would you prefer to send to your employees? If you were an employee, which approach would you prefer to receive? Why?

Scenario:

You are the CEO for Events International, a company that plans and organizes events such as conferences, weddings, and shows. The ongoing COVID pandemic has had a significant impact on the business. You have decided that beginning October 1, all employees will need to show proof of full vaccinations in order to continue working at the company. You need to send an email to all employee announcing this message.
