EMPLOYER ANALYSIS REPORT INSTRUCTIONS
The first assignment for the course is to conduct a thorough analysis of a prospective employer. The prospective employer analysis report is worth 25 points toward the course grade.
Specifically, the assignment will ask you to do the following:
Identify a position that you plan to "pursue" throughout the course. (This does not mean you have to actually apply for it, but you need to choose a position you would reasonably qualify for, as if you were applying.) Please be very selective with this position, as you will not be permitted to change or alter it moving forward. Make an electronic copy of the position listing (not the link to the job ad) for your records and for future use in the course.
Conduct a review, benchmark and analysis of the position in question. You should know not only all about the position as advertised but have a comparative analysis to several similar open positions. This is how to create a benchmark. When you find a position to "pursue" it is the primary position. However, you will need to find alternative positions to compare it to. This means you will need to find other posting of a similar position, either at the same company or a similar company. The purpose is to see what is out there without taking the first position offered. The comparison gives you a point of reference and a better understanding of what is out there.
Conduct a complete review of the company for the primary position. This should include a historical review, analysis of available financial information, and any other information that is available about that particular organization.
Once you have conducted this research, you will compose the report, which should adhere to the following guidelines:
Be formatted using APA format, including for any necessary sources (including company websites, etc.) In-text citations and references are required!
Be a minimum of 2 full pages, with a maximum of 4 full pages
Not include user-generated content as source material (Wikipedia, glassdoor, etc)
Be organized using headings (and subheadings) as described below:
Introduction
Position Summary
(Do not use the entire posting)
Position Benchmarks
Organization Review
Organization Description
History
Financial Analysis
(If you are unable to find specific financial information on the company, you can use the industry
financials - for example, if applying to Berry Global, you can look at the plastic industry)
Industry or Field Profile
Conclusions & Recommendations
(Please describe why you are choosing to pursue your primary pasitions versus the other benchmarked positions you also reviewed)
