Week 7 Assignment- The First Draft

This assignment will be started in class in Week 7 and may be finished at home and submitted to the Omnivox folder before the Week 8 class. The assignment is worth 10% of the final grade.

You will write a research essay on the topic which you have proposed and the instructor has approved in Week 6.

Write the first draft as per the following instructions.

1. Introduction
   1. Introduction includes a paragraph. Write a few opening sentences which indirectly relate to the topic to capture the readers' attention. Then, provide the context of the study such as statisticsand previous research on the topic. Finally, write the thesis statement: What does the paper investigate?
2. The main section:
   1. The main section includes several paragraphs grouped together around a unifying theme or idea. Divide this section into two or three sub-sections, each explaining one aspect of the research question. Explain the main ideas, citing the sources you suggested on the annotated bibliography and was approved by the instructor.
3. Conclusion and Recommendation
   1. This section will include a paragraph. Re-write the thesis statement. What does the paper aim to investigate? Then, summarize the main points and cite the sources in the text. These sentences consolidate the findings and respond to the research question. Avoid making a new point and citing a new source.
   2. Based on the research results, make a useful suggestion to the target audience. For example, imagine the results indicate that colors can impact employees' mode and performance in the workplace. You may suggest that interior designers designing office spaces would select the wall and flooring colors carefully with a view to boost employees' performance. Avoid citing a source in the suggestion.

1. The paper should include 800 to 1000 words, excluding the References and Works Cited. Write the word count at the end of the paper.
2. Cite the sources in the text and on the References or Works Cited according to the APA or MLA guidelines.
3. For the format, refer to the APA and MLA requirements:

1. Avoid copying and pasting the sentences from the sources to the assignment. Paraphrase them, instead. Avoid using AI tools such as Chat GPT to write the paper.
2. Submit the first draft to the Omnivox assignment folder before next class.
