Engagement 7 Routing Table Interpretation
Objective: Creating a Network Diagram from Routing Tables
Interpret router outputs.
Identify networks and IP addresses for each router.
Draw a diagram of the network topology.
Background / Preparation
In this lab you will use Packet Tracer to create a network topology diagram based on the output of the routing tables of the routers.
Examine the routing table entries for the R1, R2 and R3 Routers.
You should be able to interpret the following information for each of the routers: (You are not required to provide these answers but you should be able to interpret this information from the routing table to build the topology.)
o How many networks does each router have knowledge of?
o How many networks are directly connected to each router?
o How many networks have been learned from another router?
o How were remote networks learned by the router?
o Which network addresses correspond with other network addresses to provide an additional picture of the network?
Use Packet Tracer to draw a network diagram based on the information in each of the routing tables.
o Your diagram should include:
o All network devices
o Labels for each network address
o You may include labels for each of the IP addresses (router interfaces) or you may configure the devices.
