EPANet Tasks
Input physical system
Input of base demand pattern
Input pump curves, efficiency curves
Input pump controls - example based on tank level, where the Pump is Link 2 and the Tank is
Node 4(LINK 2 OPEN IF NODE 4 BELOW 12)
Pressure analysis
Energy cost analysis
Be sure to select Times-Options for 72 hours and select H-W in the Hydraulics portion for head loss.
Watch units for head loss coefficient (check Help for H-W).
Requirements-Deliverables
A professional report that must include the following:
A detailed schematic of the physical layout
A description of your hydraulic model and any assumptions you may have made
Several pump curves/scenarios may work, make a recommendation outlining the one (1)
pump scenario you believe is best, report pump performance conditions, and provide support
for your recommendation. Comparison to results obtained for other pumps and conditions is
required
Annual power (use $0.13 per kW -hr for energy costs) and annualized project cost estimates
Paper copy submission of the following files:

Electronic submission of the following files:

You may need to make a few assumptions - please document any that you do make. Take the time to
justify your assumptions and cite any references you may use. Don't forget the help file can answer
many software questions. This MUST be done in groups of 4 people.
Please use a "standard" engineering report format. I have included an example Table of Contents
below that I have used for my consulting projects.

List of Tables and Figures
Project Scope and Objectives

Results and Discussion
Conclusions and Recommendations

Appendix A Report Comments
Information flow/order is important. Approach section is best place to organize the report
with listed tasks and then the results and discussion can be presented in the same order.
Details need to be in all figure and table captions.
"Money Figures" show the value of your expertise in graphical (or tabular) form.
Know when to be succinct (scope, conclusions) and know when to include details
(approach, results and discussion).
Professional look
Be sure the client requirements are clearly stated (scope-approach), clearly met (the $$$
figures-tables), and your deliverables clearly stated (usually in the conclusions or
executive summary).help with epanet
