You are in a project team newly appointed by the Board of a consulting organisation. Your job is to consider an ERP Information Systems (I.S.) implications of the assignment scenario, and produce the recommended ERP implementation strategy or solution for the Board. The I.S. implementation strategy must be planned carefully in order to launch the project successfully and supported by the Project planning documentation. You are to select one of the consumer product industries below who is your client and work out the ERP systems strategy. The systems will be installed in the Head Office and connected to other branches' operations in use. Note that Head Office and branch's operation can be different. For example, the Head Office is operating administration (e.g. sales, accounting, etc.) and "branch" is its factory operating production. You are to analyse appropriately the business functions and relevant business processes for the business area you select and to propose your ERP implementation strategy to the client Management. Choose one business area as below. 1. Furnitures – assorted cheese, butter, milk 2. Garments - for all ages and genders 3. High end products – assorted coffee beans and beverage Each business area has many major business functions and processes, but your new proposed ERP systems must focus on the mandatory operations such as 1. Furnitures -manufacturing, production and whole selling 2. Garments - (collaborative) designing, making, distribution and or retail selling (+ online selling) 3. High end products – sourcing (+manufacturing) and retail selling (drinks & products) The new proposed ERP systems has many major components. However, you must analyse the requirements to select the sub-applications that are mandatory and relevant to your new systems, i.e. the correct and optimal integration of sub-applications is key success factor to your new ERP systems. You should need to conduct some research about the industry in which the company operates in business as well as the type of the proposed systems as a Literature Review to support your justification. Specification: The followings are only the guidelines for your working, your final proposed ERP system strategy should cover more than the specification given below and as detailed as possible for the business area selected by you. You should make the appropriate assumptions and or constraints where necessary to support your analysis. 1. Do the Business Process Reengineering to analyse the requirements, i.e. business functions and business processes for your solution. (Clean slate BPR approach.) You should enhance your solution with other additional component e.g. e-commerce application, CRM or SCM which can be either embedded in the ERP system or integrated as isolated enterprise systems. You should also must consider the Access and Workflow in different geographic location of the sites and the number of users.
