Each class participant will be required to individually prepare and upload to BlackBoard a seven-page (wordprocessed, double-spaced, 12-point maximum size font, references page does count, cover page does not count)
analysis of the Tuomey Healthcare System, Inc. ethics case. We will then discuss the issues in the case together as a
class during the final class meeting of the course. The written analysis should summarize the following (which is
also the framework for the scoring rubric):
1. Discuss the issues of concern to senior management.
2. Identify the central ethical issues. (a) What did Tuomey do right? (b) What did Tuomey do wrong?
3. Discuss the potential self-interests, and duties to serve other stakeholder or public interests.
4. Discuss the pros and cons of alternative courses of action.
5. Should Tuomey have appealed the case? Why or why not?
