Implementation of new policies and maintenance of services and value kept on adding to the success of Marks and Spencer. In 1998, it became the first retailer to earn a profit of 1 billion. The organization commonly called M&S has always followed the principles of Quality, Value, Service, Innovation, and Trust since its founding. This is the reason why it has been successful, distinguished, and popular among people. Information System at M&S M&S was facing several backlogs in order processing and complaints were increasing day by day. The company had invested a lot to move ahead in this competitive business environment but was unable to overcome this problem. The need of the hour was to implement a Supply Chain Management (SCM) solution that could help in fixing the issue. M&S wanted to use ERP to manage the problem. Web-Enabled Enterprise at M&S Marks and Spencers' eCommerce platform was also due for a major overhaul. Until 2011, online operations for Marks and Spencers were conducted solely via a partnership with Amazon. As the brand set a goal to revamp its image and increase multichannel sales by 2014, it also took the initiative to build and manage its eCommerce platform. There is afchallenge for the MIS team at M&S to give an effective e-Business solution and provide a smooth transition from offline to online operations. Knowledge Management at M&S M&S considers employees as an asset that can provide an innovative solution by their experience. The management at M&S believes that knowledge Management is not about technology, it is about the behavior and motivations of its employees. By implementing Knowledge Management, M&S aims to gain an understanding of employees through knowledge managers who work with staff. Training on the use of the system itself is online, which makes it easy and reduces our costs. Security for online operations at M&S The security system at M&S tracks transaction data in real- time and in search of fraudulent events. As M&S operations are completely online now, it calls for constant up-gradation of security plans. The types of attacks on the online system at M&S are as follows: a) Information auditors identified that M&S servers were attacked by hackers, wherein, they stored unwanted data in the database servers. This resulted in slow operations as well. b) Auditors also identified that there were attacks on online operations through DDoS attacks. c) There was the deliberate destruction of the overall online system through vandalism.
