Evaluating human computer interaction is a critical step in the improvement of interfaces. In this
assignment, you will be asked to complete two distinct evaluations of the same interface. First,
you will evaluate the program yourself, using heuristic evaluation. Second, you will conduct a
user study. The deliverable for this assignment is a written report. The maximum length for the
report is three pages. The following steps will lead you through the assignment. Be sure to
address each step/question in your report.
1. The computer program we are evaluating is google chrome. The specific tasks we are evaluating is accessing the footjoy website and adding it to favorites
2. Complete a heuristic evaluation. A commonly used list of heuristics is included on the
following page. You may use additional or alternate heuristics as you see fit. What
problems did you find when completing the evaluation? Did anything perform
exceptionally well?
3. Select usability metrics that will be used in user testing. You must use at least one metric
from each category (effectiveness, efficiency, user satisfaction).
4. Choose your subjects. You must use at least 3 people. Who will you test? What
information do you need about the users?
5. Complete user testing. How did the program perform based on the various usability
metrics? What problems did you find when completing the evaluation? Did anything
perform exceptionally well?
6. What can you conclude about the program you tested?
7. What can you conclude about usability testing? Did you prefer conducting evaluations
using heuristics or user testing? What advantages and disadvantages did you find with
each?
