Example 10.1 Analysis of Alternative Turkey-Feeding Programs (Hypothesis Test for Differences Between Means) Marian Anderson, production manager of Turkeys Unlimited, has been conducting a study to determine if a new feeding process produces a significant increase in mean weight of turkeys produced in the facilities of Turkeys Unlimited LLC. In the process she obtains a random set of matched turkey chicks hatched from the same hen. One group of chicks is from the hens fed using the old feeding method and the second group of chicks is from the same hens fed using the new method. The weights for each of the turkeys and the differences between the matched pairs are shown in Table 10.1.
