Excel is a highly useful resource for teachers that can help track student attendance, multiply grades, plan lessons, and monitor student growth over years. By using Excel spreadsheets, a teacher can see trends in student learning almost immediately, for example, if one student is consistently not performing academically or whether one way of teaching is more impactful than another. The more information that is available based on student learning, the more a teacher can be purposeful in their approach to teaching students. Two components of authentic servant leadership that can be used in education with the use of Excel are humility and emotional intelligence. Humility enables a teacher to examine their own effectiveness. When a teacher uses Excel to evaluate student learning, they are assessing whether the students are learning and how well they are instructing. Humility is an essential part of professional growth, and when a teacher acknowledges they need to change in order to impact their students better, it shows both the student and their teammates a humility to grow. Emotional intelligence enables a teacher to recognize personal challenges a student may be experiencing that may interfere with their learning. For example, if a student is dis-engaging from school altogether or is performing at a drastically decreased level, the data from Excel can identify potential changes early on. The teacher with emotional intelligence will use this information to support any student
