Assignment Emphasis: Read the erosion control plan, grading plan, and pavement plan, and understand the terminology. Check You Tube for a video on contour lines to help you understand the terminology and process.
Please remember, the proposed contour line is the solid line and the existing dotted contour lines are the contour lines.
Now open your drawings on sheet CCivil and do the following:
Find the proposed contour line number ; highlight it in a red color. You should find this contour line in the two detention ponds to the left.
Find the existing contour line number and highlight it in a blue color. Please notice that there are also arrows pointing to the numbers. If the existing contour line the dotted line has less value than the finished floor of the building; this means that the building is higher than the existing land surface, which means we need to provide fill materials to raise the building before starting the construction process.
Find the proposed finish floor elevation Fin Floor Elev. of the new building and write it down.
Read the contour line numbers the existing elevations under the location of the proposed building and compare them to the finish floor elevation, will this building be a cut or fill materials?
Please notice also the arrows that point to numbers such as etc. in the plan. These are the proposed finish levels of the different elements in the site. These numbers are extremely important since they determine the slope of the asphalt pavement and the walkways.
In the car parking lot in front of the building, please find the highest point and the lowest point in each section of the car parking. For example, the highest point in the lower righthand side of the north parking lot is
