Experiment: Being a current BSN student and working full time I want to do the experiment to determine if the amount of time a BSN student sleeps affects test scores. Independent Variable: Amount of time the student sleeps What is an independent variable? For example, age, sex, current smoking, LDL cholesterol level, and blood pressure are independent variables because their values (e.g., greater age, positive for current smoking, and higher LDL cholesterol level) influence the risk of myocardial infarction. (Andrade C. 2021) Dependent Variable: Test Score - These test scores are going to be influenced by the number of hours the student gets of sleep. Level of Measurement: Ratio - This is a ratio measurement because this is a interval scale and has a true zero to that scale. Measurement scale is an important part of data collection, analysis, and presentation. (Mishra et al., 2018)
