Experiment No.6 R-C ac Circuit Objective: To study the characteristics of ac resistor-capacitor (R-C) circuit. Theory: The R-C ac circuit composes of two elements, resistor (R) and capacitor (C). These two elements are either connected in series (or in parallel) depending on nature of application under study. In the R-C ac circuit, it is known that the current leads the voltage by a phase difference angle ( 8 or +). The value of this angle zero and 1/2 and can be determined by one of the three method which have been mentioned in exp5. Procedure: 1- Connect an R-C series ac circuit according to the following block diagram. Osc. Electrical Circuits Laboratory (II) ============== Discussion 1- Plot on a graph paper between the frequency and phase difference angle. 2- Draw on a graph paper the phasor diagram for the case f=500Hz (choose a drawing scale 1cm for each 1 volt). 3- Are IT, VR and V₁. increasing or decreasing with the frequency f?Why?. 4- What should be the phase difference between Vc and VR? 5- Repeat the discussion for R-C parallel circuit.
