For this assignment, you will research sustainable garment manufacturing, reflect on why it is important to the future of the fashion industry, and, create a marketing campaign for Instagram to teach others.

Instructions:

Step 1

Select a method of garment manufacturing that is more sustainable for people and the environment compared to traditional manufacturing. Examples include:

Eco-factories	Sustainable textile waste management
Process of integrating design and manufacturing	Zero-waste design
Upcycling	Other: Discuss with your professor if you have another idea you'd like to explore
Vertically integrated manufacturing

Step 2

Provide a short description about your topic.

• How does it work? Describe and create a process chart or diagram.
• When was it invented?
• Why is it more sustainable than traditional garment manufacturing methods?

Step 3

Identify a brand that is currently using this method.

• Give a short description of the brand.
• How do they use this method? Is it for all their apparel production, or just one category?
• How long have they been using this method?
• Is the brand able to use recognized certifications for their product because they use this method?
• Does this method align with the brands overall sustainability goals? Why or why not?

Step 4

Reflect on what changes you could make in your own life with your own purchasing decisions based on what you have learned. In your marketing campaign make this a clear call to action for the audience.
