This assignment asks you to cre ate a "final" reflection on the good life. As such, you should consider it one of the most important activities of the semester. On the one hand, it is your last chance to demonstrate to me that you have been engaged in the course materialto show me that you have a technically precise understanding of key concepts from the course. On the other hand, it is your last chance during the semester to meditate on what the good life means to you.

You have been exposed this semester to a wide variety of philosophical ideas, from the ancient to the contemporary, from the obviously philosophical to the indirectly philosophical. Additionally, you have engaged in this material through lots of class discussion, through in-class activities, and especially through the Spiritual Exercise Journal. Along the way, you have been doing philosophy. You have become philosophers. You are living out the famous advice from Socrates: "the unexamined life is not worth living." You have examined your life.

While I hope you will continue to think about your life philosophically after this course is over, I want you to use this final assignment for your most sustained meditation on the course and your life by addressing the following prompts:

1. What does the good life mean to you now at the end of the course?
   1. What key concepts, ideas, or activities do you consider the most helpful in thinking about your life and future? (what about those makes them useful?)
2. In what specific ways has your thinking about philosophy, your life, and your future changed over the semester? What ideas or activities prompted those changes?
3. What, if anything, might you be changing about your life? Your attitude? Your behaviors? Your plans?
4. Now that the course is nearing completion, what ideas or activities would you like to hold onto in your life? What specific actions might you take to hold yourself accountable to your "good life goals"? How can you make the course material an intentional part of your life? A Good Life Routine?

Requirements:

1. The reflection must be at least TWO pages; must use quotations and specific references to our course material; should make some references to journals or assignments.
2. You may post it as a Word document attached to a journal entry, but be sure to include your name on the document.
3. The assignment must be submitted by midnight by April 28th. Let me know if that presents a problem.
