Final Estimating Project

You are employed by a contactor that is replying to a tender for a small garage project in a small township in Northern Ontario. Your assignment is to compete an estimate of the all elements of the project required to excavate, construct, and finish the interior and exterior of the project.

Instructions:

1. Using the spreadsheet

Complete a quantity survey for the single garage project for the elements found in the spreadsheet workbook tabs.

2. There are a set of plans for the project, which can also be found in the final assignment tap. Any project details (specifications) that are required I have attached to this instruction. Should there be any details that have been left out and that you are required to assume, clearly mark the assumptions you made on the spreadsheet.

3. This assignment is presented in imperial units and your quantity survey and estimate will be in imperial units.

4. We will not worry about the labour cost on this project. Just the total cost of materials.

5. If any important information you require is not here, assume and clearly let me know on you QTO and Summary your assumptions.

Notes:

1. Excavation: The lot is cleared and ready for excavation. The top soil removal is: Depth: 6 inches, area 40 feet by 30 feet. Top soil will remain on site and the remainder of the excavated materials are to be hauled off site by a subcontractor at 20 yd3 loads at $240.00 per load. You are required to estimate the total cost of backfilling the foundation with sand at $350.00 per load. We use the same subcontractor.

2. Concrete Work: You will have to estimate the cost of material for the forms. Cost of materials is $95 per SCMA (yd2). Concrete will be estimated at $175.00 per yd3. Assume no rebar nor wire mesh.

3. Rough Carpentry: Estimate the total cost of materials for this project. Look up prices for materials from Home Depot website. If you can't find a price, make an educated guess, clearly mark your guess.

4. Exterior and Interior Finishes: Estimate the total cost of materials for this project. Look up the prices on the Home Depot website. If you can't find a price, make an educated guess, clearly mark your guess.
