Final Project Content

For your final project, you will conduct an analysis of one critical organizational issue, challenge, or opportunity facing leaders or managers in your organization or industry. Then, you will make a recommendation to senior leaders about what actions need to be taken.

As graduate students, you have a lot of freedom here, but make sure your paper focuses on the leadership and management concepts and principles covered in this course, including but not limited to planning, organizing, influencing and controlling, or organizational behavior including but not limited to group dynamics and organizational communication and change.

Select a current organizational issue and develop a professional recommendation.

Identify one key issue in the organization or industry that requires you (a current or prospective leader or manager) to take a position about it. Examples could include, but are not limited to the following:

• Sustainability
• Managing in the global arena
• Competitive dynamics
• Recruiting and keeping talent
• Managing organizational change
• Managing organizational culture
• Safety
• Managing increasing and diverse data and information
• Leading and managing in a challenging regulatory environment

Provide a brief overview of the issue, to contextualize it; this part of the assignment should not exceed two pages. Then, as a leader or manager, take a position on the issue and defend your position in light of your leader or manager philosophy (reference your Leader/Manager Profile from Module 1 and Leader Orientation assessment from Module 2). Develop your recommendation, identifying the challenges facing the organization, the risks of taking or not taking action, and the benefits or rewards for the organization.

Readings from the course, class discussion, and independent research must be used to support key ideas expressed in the paper.
