Final S emester Project: Implementation of the Constant Strain Triangle (CST) Element in MATLAB
Objective:
Develop a MATLAB program to implement the Constant Strain Triangle (CST) element of the finite element method.
Tasks:
Theoretical Background: Review the theory and derivation behind the CST element.
MATLAB Implementation: Write a MATLAB code to compute the local stiffness matrix for CST element. Assemble the stiffness matrix in global stiffness matrix.
Analysis: Solve the displacement of the nodes, stresses of the elements for a given load on the plate.
Validation: Apply the MATLAB code to a simple problem with known solutions, such as a rectangular plate under uniform tension. Use at least two scenarios of different meshing and compare between them.
What to submit
A PDF file of a report including derivation of the CST stiffness matrix, description of the implemented MATLAB program, and analysis results (displacement and stress).
MATLAB script. Submission of PDF and MATLAB code on 31st-12-2024
A presentation summarizing the methodology, code structure, and findings. Presentation on 8th-01-2024.
