Find and discuss a recent (within the past year) event that involved performance appraisals in the workplace. The article or news story should be from a creditable source (i.e. news article/story, journal or case study). The Scope The paper should be 4-5 pages (not including the title or works cited pages) in length and should follow APA guidelines. This paper should include an introduction, body content and conclusion and should flow and read like an academic paper. The Content You'll identify the main topic of the news item you have selected and provide a description of the event. Please do not rewrite the article but summarize the main points (problem, or overall issue) and detail why the issues arose and/or discuss important lessons about performance appraisals that HR professionals should know and practice. At a minimum your papers should include the following (feel free to use these are the title's for each title/subtitle of your paper- hint, hint): . . . Introduction of the story o Purpose of your paper Background (What went wrong/right) Analyzation of the topic/issue (how does it connect to what you have learned in class) Application o What are the lessons learned o Recommendations. Conclusion The Grading You will be graded on the following criteria: Paper Length- Up to 40 points o 4-5 pages (not including title or works cited pages) Writing quality - Up to 40 points o Engaging and clear writing that was smooth, skillful, coherent and thorough (i.e. covered each criterion listed above) Value - Up to 60 points • . . o Content revealed well-developed findings that are relevant, significant and well- researched. Credibility - Up to 60 points o A variety of types of supporting evidence was shared (i.e. explanations, examples, illustrations, data, stats, and/or analogies).
