Finding information in the library

How will you evaluate the information that you retrieve from the library, that is based on Literature, using the following criteria on the next page:

Criteria for evaluation information

Appropriateness	Does it have the type and amount of information I need? Is it too ??popular?? and lightweight for a university assignment? Is it too academic and advanced for my needs as a first year student? [10 points]
Availability	Is the source readily available? Is the information easy to access? [10 points]
Relevant	Is the information relevant and pertinent to my need? Is the form of information (pictures, charts, videos) useful? [20 points]
Suitability	What information am I able to find in the source? Can I read and understand the information? Is it at a suitable level? [10 points]
Current	Is the information up-to-date? Is the information accurate & useful? [10 points]
Authority	Was the information prepared by an expert or knowledgeable individual (s)? Is the individual qualified to talk on the subject? Does he/she have other publications? Are other viewpoints and theories acknowledged? Have the information been reviewed by peers? Who is the publisher? Does the publisher / organisation have a good reputation in the area? Is it a primary or secondary source? Are original sources listed? [20 points]
Objectivity	Is the information factual or an opinion? Is it objective or subjective? Does it reflect bias? Is there a balance of perspectives, opinions or theories represented? [10 points]
Reliability	Is the information accurate? Are references to other sources provided? Does the source provide supporting evidence? [10 points]
