"First Things First"

You've just been promoted as the interim quality manager for your work place (an injection molding operation). Your boss has seen the potential in promoting you to this new position and the current project manager is retiring. You've been working in the quality department now for a couple of years as a manufacturing engineer. The quality manager is responsible for a team of 10 people that work on the factory floor and is also the audit manager for the site's ISO9001-2015 quality management system. The manager has an audit team of four individuals that audit full time with their primary work doing audits of site per an audit schedule. Each auditor is assigned to audit the factory on all three shifts - your plant is a 24/7 operations round the clock. You have two auditors on day shift (more to audit).

The plant has had some very good quality outcomes under the prior quality manager's oversight. You're now being asked to fill their shoes. You have been work shadowing the manager for the past three months when you find time to do that but now its the first day on your new job.
