Fishbone Diagram Exercise

Construct a fishbone diagram. You may create one using pencil and paper, through Excel or Powerpoint, or use the template provided from ASQ.

Problem: A high percentage of students do not complete their Associate degree (this is a real problem by the way).

Major Categories:

Student Issues (everything about students themselves such as financial issues, home issues, poor study habits, working while going to school etc.)

School Policies and Procedures (could include drop date policies, financial aid policies, minimum number of hours, etc.)

School Services (tutoring, financial assistance, internet, etc.)

Classes (scheduling, instructor issues, facilities, on-line, etc.)

Ensure your diagram includes sub-categories so that some root causes can be identified.
