She was Amelia Earhart. In April Earhart's growing reputation attracted humerous sponsors. They asked Amelia if she would like to fly across the Atlantic Ocean to which she agreed. But her sponsors thought it was too isky for a woman to fly alone. Moreover, the sponsors were concerned that Earhart did not have the appropriate training to fly the type of plane they would be using. Ultimately, Earhart had to ride as a passenger with pilot Wilmer "Bill" Stultz and copilot Louis E "Slim" Gordon. She received cheerful welcome when their plane landed in the United Kingdom. However, Earhart said she felt she "was just baggage, like a sack of potatoes." She longed to complete the flight on her own someday.
Earhart got another opportunity to cross the Atlantic Ocean in this time on her own.
