For our final assignment, write a resignation letter. Here are the facts:

  1. You've worked at the organization for 9 years and have been happy there. The company seems to like you, too, having promoted you twice and awarded you annual salary increases.
  2. You are a candidate for promotion at your current company. That decision is expected within 6 weeks and, if you got the promotion, would mean a sizable increase in your salary as well as more responsibility and, likely, more hours. You are paid based on an annual salary, not by the hour. You are thrilled to be considered but a bit nervous about taking on more responsibility.
  3. You were not looking for a new position but were recruited by the search firm that your new company hired to help them fill the position. The position is similar to what you are currently doing but pays a bit more salary and is a few miles closer to your home.
  4. You are happy that the new company is not a competitor to your current employer. In fact, it is in a different industry.
  5. Your new company offers a more robust 401k benefit plan. At your age, this benefit is one of the most important to you.
  6. You have agonized over this decision but ultimately, you have made the decision to change employers.

Write a letter to your supervisor with a copy to the company President informing them of your resignation. Of course, you will follow the guidelines from chapter 19 and from all pertinent sections of the textbook.

I don't think I need to tell you that your letter must be free from grammatical, usage, spelling, punctuation and related errors.
