For this assignment, you need to choose a workplace, community, or school group in which you regularly participate or that you regularly observe. The group can be a unit meeting, interdisciplinary team meeting, group supervision, etc. The group needs to have at least $3$ people.

Your assignment is to write a $5-7$ page analysis of your observations of the communication patterns in the group. You may be as creative in your paper as you choose to be$,$ but it must include the following information:

Description of the group$$purpose$,$ size, location, length of time the group has been formed, frequency of meetings, participant roles, and any other basic descriptive information that you deem relevant.

Observed group hierarchy and leadership$$Who takes charge? Does the leadership change? Under what circumstances does the leadership change? How does the change of leadership affect group interactions? Who speaks to whom? Who doesn$$t speak? Other observations.

How do the observed hierarchy and leadership compare with the participants actual organizational roles? If there is a difference, how do you explain it$?$

What non$-$verbal communication do you notice? What impact does it have and on whom?

Choose one of the theories of communication studied in class $($or one that you identify in another journal article outside of class$)$ and apply it to the group processes you observed.

Describe your official role in the group. Discuss how well you fit with the dynamics, hierarchy, and processes of the group based on your personality, learning style, conflict style, and leadership style assessments.

Is this an effective group with respect to communication? If so$,$ what makes it effective? If not, what needs to be improved?
