For this assignment, you will analyze your current position in your current organization using the main ideas from the course. You will summarize your analysis in a presentation that you create using presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint). If you are not currently working, you can apply the main ideas from the course to a specific position in a specific organization that you would realistically like to have in the near future.
Your analysis should address the following questions/issues, with I presentation slide focused on each question;
1. Begin by providing some basic information about your organization. Then describe your job to me. Be sure I understand what your main duties are.
2. How diversified would you say your organization is? If your organization is involved in multiple distinct businesses, tell me what they are. Then tell me what main business your current/prospective position falls under.
3. Analyze the business your job falls under using Porters Five Forces Model. Once you have completed the Five Forces analysis, tell me which of the Five Forces is most relevant to your position, and explain why.
4. What strategy would you say that your organization is pursuing? Is it focused on a particular market segment or is does it serve most/all of the markets in the industry? Is it a cost leader? A differentiator? Or is it some combination of/balance between the two?
5. Using the primary and secondary categories from Porters Generic Value Chain, tell me what the value chain for your business looks like. Where in the value chain does your current job fit? How do you add value for customers as an individual?
6. If you were promoted from your current position, what would be your new position? What does your analysis say about promotion opportunities at your organization? What does your analysis say about what you need to do to earn a promotion?
This is a bit hard for me. I do not work a formal job. I am a self trained chef who has created a canning product that has been sold to individuals and one restaurant.
Thanks for the help.
