For this assignment, you will create a SWOT analysis spreadsheet to determine how best to solve operational decisions.
The work product of this assignment is a spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or other similar spreadsheet application). It is a template, it is not an actual SWOT analysis of any government, company, department within a company etc. It is a template. It is intended to be a working template that an analyst could use, with the instructions that are included in the template, to perform a SWOT analysis on the items of interest. It will contain a total of six tabs / worksheets in the template and they are each described below.
The first tab or worksheet on your spreadsheet should be titled Notes-Instructions. Provide your name, the course title, and date, as well as your contact information. This first worksheet should also contain detailed instructions for use of the SWOT analysis in an actual corporate decision-making setting. Assume that this template will become standard work within one or more departments and that the users will not have the benefit of record nor live training. Without explicit instructions for its use, it is worthless, and the grade earned will be commensurate with that fact.
The second through fifth worksheets of the spreadsheet will be the actual steps of the SWOT analysis, with clearly noted positions for the user to record information according to the instructions of the first tab. Each of these four worksheets should be labeled for the step it entails, namely Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.
For simplicity, the final, sixth, far right worksheet should contain the list of references you used. The title references and the reference formatting must follow the APA (7th edition) style. Do not spend time attempting perfection, like correcting hanging indents. The formatting of each reference and the order of the references is what is important. Also remember that to follow APA references must have in-text citations and citations must have references. Part of the rubric grading includes citations and references.
The finished product will be a spreadsheet with six worksheets. The intent is that any analyst could use your SWOT analysis to make well-founded operations management decisions. In other words, the spreadsheet could become standard work. You will explore standard work more later in the course when considering lean operations.
