For this assignment, you will need to come up with your own research study. This should be a relatively simple design. No repeated measures or multivariate designs this round. If there is something you would like to research that is more complicated, save for later in the semester after we have gained more experience. For now stick with:

A between groups design $($Follow figure $3\mathrm{.}5$ or $3\mathrm{.}6$ on pp $77-78$ in your textbook either type of design is acceptable$)$

No human subjects $($this is a very touchy issue requiring considerable paperwork in some circumstances so let's just avoid it if possible. If you have something that involves experimenting with people we need to talk about it before we do anything. Pick something inanimate that you can weight, measure, count etc. Try to stick to direct measures for this assignment.

Come up with a research question. $($We are not looking for groundbreaking discoveries. It is more important to practice our skills coming up with good testable research questions and hypotheses and then devising a design to test them. Don't be afraid to test the obvious$)$

Define your independent and dependent variables. $($Remember your independent variable will be the treatment. Because we are doing a between groups design, your independent variable will distinguish one group from another$)$

Define your measure and how data will be measured. $($The dependent variable should be something that you can measure$)$

State your hypothesis. This should include a clear indication of what it is your evaluating and the expected outcome.

What did you control for and how.

Describe the process you used to collect your data $($one paragraph explaining what you did$)$

Collect your data Shoot for sample sizes of n $=15-20$ observations for each group.

Use Minitab to come up with the descriptive statistics as well as a histogram for each group. Report your results. Using section $4\mathrm{.}4$ as a guide, I want you to report your descriptive statistics as discussed in this section.
