For this assignment, you will need to thoroughly read the following case study and develop a motivation plan using the content theories of Maslow, Herzberg, and Aldefer in a minimum of a 23 page paper with APA formatting application. Eastside General (Eastside) is part of the Sun Valley Healthcare System. Eastside is one of Sun Valley's smaller, community-based hospitals located in a rural area of the Midwest. Sally Moreno, the Admissions Department Supervisor, has worked for Eastside for 10 years in the Emergency Department. She appreciates the importance of her staff's roles and the contributions they make to the hospital. However, Sally's manager frequently reminds her that she needs to increase productivity in the department to avoid layoffs in this poor economy. All staff must be on a tight schedule because the Admissions Department is a 24/7 operation. There is one Admissions Department staff member named Rosetta Samuels who has transferred from the Dietary Department 18 months ago. In her last 9 months of employment with the Admissions Department, Rosetta has constantly been tardy for work. Her shift start at 7 a.m., but she is usually 1530 minutes late. As a result, the other workers cannot leave until she arrives. Sally Moreno has already given a verbal warning to Rosetta. In response, Rosetta cried, said that she needed to keep her job, and promised never to be late again. It has now been two weeks since the verbal warning and Rosetta has been late again. Unexpectedly, Rosetta has requested to be transferred into another department and Human Resources have asked Sally Moreno for a recommendation. Sally weighs the decision carefully. While Rosetta has a problem with tardiness she is a very hard-worker once she shows up for work. Case Study Analysis Discussion Questions: Does Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs apply to this situation? If yes, how? If no, why not? What are some of the motivational factors affecting Sally's and Rosetta's behaviors? In what ways, do each person's behaviors impact the other employees? What is your assessment of Sally's conflict management style? What are your suggestions for Sally for dealing with this situation? Would you describe Sally's leadership style as that of a transactional or transformational leader? What are your suggestions for Sally in terms of her leadership style or approach in this situation? How should Sally approach the situation with Rosetta's tardiness today? Should the request for transfer play a role in her decision? What should she do about that and why?
