For this part, you will continue to look at the daily high temperatures, in F , for the months of January and February in Portland, OR.2 That is, any data used will represent the high temperature for a given day in January or February. You will look at "recent" daily temperature highs as compared to "historical" temperature highs. Any day in January and February from the years 2000-2024 will be considered "recent." Any day in January and February from the years 1970-1999 will be considered "historical." There were a total of 1,482 "recent" days and 1,777 "historical" days. The goal of this part is to estimate the average daily high temperature for the "recent" months of January and February in Portland, OR and then see if we can conclude if the "recent" average is significantly different than the "historical" average. (Don't worry, you will be given the "historical average" WHEN you need it) The data file can be found by following the link below. It is named Sample of Recent Temperatures. This includes an SRS of daily temperature highs in Portland, Oregon from January and February from the years 2000-2024 (i.e. "recent" highs)
