For this post we are asked to distinguish the differences between audible, infrasonic and ultrasonic and give an example of each. The term audible simply means that it can be heard by the human ear. Now keep in mind that this will not be the same for everyone, a teenager might hear a sound and to them it is audible but and older person with hearing loss cant hear the same sound. To the older person it is inaudible. Now infrasonic and ultrasonic simply mean they are sounds at frequencies that are above or below the textbook definition of the range of frequencies that a human can hear. infrasonic being low and ultrasonic being high, again this doesn't necessarily mean that they are inaudible they are just above or below a certain frequency. Hearing protection is definitely a necessity when exposed to loud noises. The long term affects from unprotected exposure to loud noises can be several things to include noise induced hearing loss which is permanent hearing loss due to damage to the inner ear, tinnitus which is a ringing or buzzing in the ear, hidden hearing loss which can make it difficult to understand someone talking when there is background noise.
