For this project, you will be describing the process to protect a particular type of Intellectual Property for an imaginary business.

I know some students have been confused as to when this assignment is due so I am extending the due date until October 11th at midnight.

Instructions

1. Determine whether you would like to protect a product for sale, a process to make the product, OR a logo for the business. Describe the intellectual property (use your imagination!)
2. Given what you have decided to protect in step 1, choose if a Trade Mark, a Copyright, or a Patent would best protect the Intellectual Property.
3. Draft a 2-3 page paper explaining the following:
   1. Describe the intellectual property you are protecting. Why does it need protected?
   2. What type of protection is best (Trade Mark, Copyright, Patent) and why?
   3. What steps should be undertaken to protect the Intellectual Property on a federal level? At a minimum be sure to include a discussion of these questions. If registration is required, what agency is involved, what information is required, are there any filing fees or timelines?
   4. What could the business do if someone uses its Intellectual Property illegally? What remedies are available?
