For your Annotated Bibliography, you will gather and analyzeprimary sources(not sources by another scholar). This evidence can include news stories, trade journal articles, promotional materials, interfaces, and much more. You willfind 6 primary sources about two different distributors, and you will have three sources per distributor.These sources will reveal an ongoing power dynamic or ideology occurring within or through the distributor that shapes the decisions the distributor makes. Each entry in the annotated bibliography will include:

1. a bibliographic citation in MLA or Chicago format (just make it consistent across sources!)
2. a 1-2 sentence summary of the source's content
   • What is the main argument or idea in this source?
   • What aspect of this source is most important to your research?
   • What is the main body of evidence in this source?
3. a 2-3 sentence analysis of how the source exposes a power dynamic at work in TV industries
   • Think about what industry players are in the article, what issues of the industry, etc. and what is being said about the dynamic between these things. This may be the point of your source, to highlight a certain power dynamic, but it also may be something you see by reading "in between the lines" of the source text - whether that's what's being saidot said in an article, or your interpretation of promotional materials, etc.
   • Some course ideas/themes you may want to consider for this question: regulation, diversity behind or in front of the camera, assumptions being made about the audience/consumers, newness or innovation, the valuing of certain types of work

Finally, you willchoose one of the distributors you focused onand identify three potentialresearch questionsfor continuing research, as well as threehypothesesabout what you think you might find. To guide your research, use course concepts to apply to the evidence you find for your bibliography entries.

As you try to develop these questions, consider adapting some of the questions from the "Ultimate Cheatsheet for Critical Thinking" available on Canvas; these should help you develop questions that are not just geared toward "what" is happening in the television industries, but "how" it is happening and "why" it is happening.
