For your final assignment, each student will write a report on the journey of a real product you can buy at a store, detailed likely steps from manufacture site to retail store or wholesaler. The focus of this paper is for the student to write about each stage of the supply chain that the product travels through with a focus on purchasing functions at each step in the chain. Students should ensure they discuss costs and functions associated with each step in the supply chain, how organizations figure out price of the product and any other relevant information that provides the story of the product from a purchasing perspective. Be sure to quote sources accurately and provide references for books or Web Pages used. Example papers are posted in D2L. The key point is to ensure that whatever product you choose, you can map it from the start of the process to when you buy it. For example, corn would start off being planted as a seed.
