For your final proposal, you must use the information collected during
your job analysis to design a selection system for your job for a gas bar manager. Your assignment should clearly indicate which of these functions you have selected.
The aspects of each function you should include in your proposal are described below.
Selection System Option
If you choose this option, your proposal must:
Identify and describe at least three different methods to use when hiring for this job.
o Provide sufficient detail for future in-depth development and execution of each
method (e.g., which personality traits do you want to measure; examples of areas
that questions in the interview will focus on).
o Describe how these methods will be integrated into a selection process (e.g., order
administered).
Identify, explain, and justify how a final hiring decision will be made based on the
information collected from your selection methods.
Methods: You must select at least three different selection methods from the categories listed
below. Note that, for example, personality tests and knowledge tests are considered the same
selection method category for the purposes of this assignment.
Applicant Screening: Including resums, weighted application blanks, and biographical
information blanks.
Employment Tests: Including personality, ability, knowledge, and integrity tests.
o For the purposes of this assignment performance tests are considered a different
method category and grouped with realistic job previews (see below).
Interviews: Including in person, online, and asynchronous interviews (e.g., video
recordings to questions) in any format (e.g., behavioral description interviews).
Realistic Job Previews: Including performance tests of any kind.
References: Including personal and employment reference checks.
Contingent Assessments: Including medical evaluations and drug tests.
Hiring Decision: A selection process takes place over multiple steps and ends in a final hiring
decision (i.e., offer made to applicant). As part of your proposal, you must identify which
selection approach you will use to reach a hiring decision (e.g., a specific mechanical approach)
and describe how the information collected via your selection methods will be considered.
