For your first case study, we will be examining Collin Street Bakery. located in Corsicana, Texas. The bakery was founded in $1896,$ by German immigrant, Gus Weidmann. By $1906,$ Gus had a partner and a second location. In the $1940\text{'}$s the McNutt family takes over the bakery, with an eye on expansion. Mail order becomes a major revenue stream for the bakery, and sales grow from $100,000$ products to half a million units sold annually. As sales continue to grow, Collin Street Bakery moves into a new factory and they also pursue vertical integration by purchasing businesses in their supply chain.

In $1998,$ President and CEO, Bob McNutt hired Sandy Jenkins to serve as the Corporate Controller for the bakery. After more than a decade the bakery learns just how important internal controls are to a business.
