For your oral presentation, you will be presenting in-person on either July 30, August 1, or August 6. Additional information about the exact presentation schedule will be provided in class. You will speak for 7 to 10 minutes about a single topic. Your topic will be related to your research report. You do not have to cover everything in your research report. Choose only the aspects that you think your audience will find interesting. You are required to use visuals (usually PowerPoint) to accompany your presentation. Your presentation must be uploaded to Moodle by July 30th @ 8:00 a.m.(even if you are not scheduled to present that day). Formatting Requirements & APA tips for your visuals: Any images or graphics should be labelled with "Retrieved from: Website URL". Examples will be provided in-class. This does not apply if you are using your own individual photographs. One of your slides should be your reference list in correct APA format. You can take this from your formal report and exclude any references that weren't used for your presentation. You do not require in-text citations for your visuals unless you are using a direct quote. You will be evaluated on:The principles of good public speaking that we have discussed in class. The organization and content of your presentation. The quality of your visual presentation (Are your slides free of grammar/spelling mistakes? Simple layout? Easy to understand?) Your professional appearance (wear business dress), body language/posture and vocal energy/dynamism during your presentation.Keep in mind:Do not feel that you have to cover all of the information included in your research report. This is a short presentation, so you may narrow down your topic to fit the time limit. You will probably want to give the presentation a different structure from the report itself. Think about how to make the information interesting and entertaining for the audience by tailoring the presentation structure and content to their needs. Do not include too many PowerPoint slides. You may use as few as 8 slides for your short presentation (and a maximum of 15).Aim for a flowing, natural speaking style. You should not be reading your presentation. Practice ahead of time.
