For your portfolio, you will create and design four chapters of a hospitality leadership guidebook based on each course of the Hospitality Leadership program. The purpose of the guidebook is to assist hospitality organization managers to become more effective leaders. You will use the Mahara website to display your portfolio in the form of a blog.

Hospitality organizations often face the challenge of training employees not just in the essential requirements of the job, but must also teach how to interact positively with guests and solve problems creatively. Quality training makes it easier for employees to perform their tasks smoothly, including interactions with customers in order to create superior guest experiences.

Portfolio Project Description:

1. Choose a training program topic from the list and build a training program based on your topic:

- Teamwork in the Hospitality Industry

- Service Behavior Expectations while interacting with guests

- How to WOW your guest

- Handling Guest Complaints

2. Create a list of the objectives (at least 6) to be accomplished from the training of your choice.

3. List the set of skills (at least 5) you expect a new associate to acquire after completing the training program you have chosen.

4. Provide a list of the criteria (at least 10) you will apply to measure the results of the training program three months after the training.

Refer back to Chapter 6, page 189 on training principles. Pages 190-205 will help you review the types of training as well as training methods. Refer to pages 206-208 on tools to measure training effectiveness.
