For your response posts, address the following: What do you have in common with your classmates? Ask any questions you may have about their relevant experiences and/or professional aspirations. How might a stronger ethical mindset have prevented the ethical violations raised by your classmates? How have ethical violations you're aware of impacted your opinion of the accounting profession?

It has been a touch difficult working full time with a 9 year old boy and all of his activities and my first grandchild as well! | enjoy the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, tubing, etc. My goals for this course are to be one step closer to my Masters, with hoping to gain insight in ethical situations that could arise, as well as what regulations dictate ethical responses to those issues. | don't currently do too much accounting, but am interested in learning more about ethical situations in accounting area. In my current employment, prior to being promoted, my previous boss and close friend, decided to retire and wanted to keep his health insurance into retirement, yet none of his employment documents stated he was able to do so. He told me he was promised that when he was hired, but it wasn't mentioned in his employment agreement, Board minutes, or any other location. | inquired about this issue to the Board, whom didn't know anything about it, and was told there was no such promise made and were not keen on the idea since they would incur further expenses. | advised my previous boss that he may not keep insurance and he immediately got upset and wanted to know how they even knew. | explained that | brought it to their attention because it was my job and he got mad and told me | could have kept paying it and no one would have ever noticed. | explained to him that is insurance fraud and | wouldn't do that for anyone or risk my job. Long story short, it worked out in the end. The Board created retiree insurance for all staff going forward, including my previous boss, and | was given his position in large part that they could trust me to remain ethical even when it was difficult. My awareness of accounting and ethics violations pretty much assumes violations of inflating financial statements to make a company look more profitable than what it really is, taking bribes, stealing monies from employers, learning and reading about financial scams such as Enron, Madoff, etc
