A- Pippa was traveling at 40 mph on a city street with a 40 mph speed limit when David, moving at 65 mph speed limit when David, moving at 65 mph, ran into the back of Pippa's vehicle. David did not notice that the traffic was slowing because he was texting on his cell phone and failed to see Pippa's brake lights. David was returning from an appointment with his physical therapist and had taken a strong sedative about 15 minutes prior to the accident. Pippa was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision and slammed her head into the windshield. She was taken to a local hospital, where she incurred a hospital bill of over $ 25,000. Pippa also was not able to attend her shifts at the restaurant where she worked for a week, and estimates she has lost over $ 1,000 in wages and tips.
