What courses in college did you like the most? Least? Why? My favorite courses in college were my humanities classes, specifically ethics. I enjoyed this class because it taught me how to view others perspectives and understand how and why they think a certain way. This has been very helpful for me when speaking to customers at my retail job, I can speak to the customer and get a understanding of what they need, and adjust my mannerisms to fit their nature and allow them the best experience. My least favorite class would be my Calculus class. The only reason why it is my least favorite is because I struggle to understand the concepts and have to spend a lot of extra time on studying it before I get what I am doing. I enjoy the time when I understand the unit and can solve the problems but I struggle getting to that point and have to spend more time on it to be successful.

2. Why did you leave your last job?

I enjoyed my last job but the reason why I left was because I could not see myself growing in the company. I started as a sales associate and moved to a manager position 2 years later, after working as a manager I learned that I liked the position but I found that I could not see myself working towards a general manager or owner. I applied here because I can see myself using the skills that I have learned from my previous job to help build the company. I can also see myself working towards higher positions in the future by providing the best work I can.

3. Are you a leader or a follower?

I would best describe myself as a leader who values other opinions and ideas. I like to take initiative and get things done well and the right way. But I know that I do not have the answers to everything so I like to get input from my coworkers and see if there is a better way of going about things. I make sure that everyone is heard and understands the options of going about a task and determine how we are going to do something by combining ideas.

4. How do you handle stress and pressure on the job?

Stress and pressure can be a little intimidating at times, but it has always been a big form of motivation for me. If I am given a task that is on a tight time constriction, I always do my best to work to reach that time goal. I feel like pressure gives a project more meaning, it is giving out stress and pressure because it is important. I make sure that the task is being worked on to its best quality so I can provide adequate results.

What courses in college did you like the most? Least? Why? The courses that I liked the most in college were the medical coding courses as well as the health information management courses. These courses were my favorite because they have not only given me the knowledge that I need to succeed in my career, but have given me access to the tools, resources, and professional groups that are available to me should I have an issue or problem I can't find a solution for on my own. Question About Employers and Jobs

2. Why did you choose your field of work? I chose my field of work because there was a high demand for medical coders when I started 20 years ago but quickly came to realize that I really enjoyed coding.

Question About Work Experiences and Expectations

3. Are you a leader of a follower? I consider myself a leader. I have always been one to step up when needed and take charge of projects when nobody else would.

Question About Work Habits

4. Do you prefer working with others or by yourself? I do like working by myself, but I prefer working with others. Being able to gain someone else's insight on a project or problem and being able to come to a consensus on a resolution is a great feeling. Just knowing you were able to work together and everyone on the team put their best efforts in makes the end result much better than taking credit by myself.
