Grandstand Question $2$

Fig. $1$ shows a cross$-$section and key plan of a proposed grandstand. The design has reached an outline stage following preliminary design team meetings. Access ways need to be provided at regular intervals not exceeding about $14m.$ The client wishes you to provide a scheme design solution which should include as a minimum:

Preliminary sizing of main elements

Section through the grandstand with structural sizes marked on

Load path diagrams including identification of types of supports $($Fixed$/$pinned$/$roller$).$ Indicate the type of loadings that need to be carried and how they will be resisted

General arrangement plan drawings of Ground level and Roof level, highlighting any stability elements

Sketch details of critical structural locations

A stability statement addressing wind force in both directions

If the roof structure is light and slender, it may be prone to vibration; address this issue

The client would like the design to be a landmark so a visually creative solution is desirable.
