Purpose

These documents form part of the deliverables for the course project. They should integrate with the other documents associated with the project.

The work breakdown structure $($WBS$)$ and the schedule and budget are related documents. The WBS$-$sometimes talled a project breakdown structure $($PBS$)$describes all the work that needs to be completed for a project, and the schedule and budget consider that work in light of the available resources and time. The WBS should be accompanied by the project scope $($completed earlier$).$ The two documents go hand$-$in$-$hand, although the WBS will eventually become the foundation of the project schedule, which will incorporate task dependencies and resources to create a time$-$phased work plan. The budget elements are incorporated at the resource and task level to ensure resources and tasks are costed appropriately, which enables earned value management to be used on the project.
