Group Discussion 1 Taxi Driver
Initial Post
This week we read about Bardach's Eightfold Path to policy analysis. When Professor Bardach wants to propose a policy, he uses a test he calls the Taxi Driver Pitch . This method says that your policy explanation needs to be clear, down -to-earth, and simple enough that the lay person could understand it in a short amount of time. In this test, the proposer imagines trying to explain the problem and recommended solution to a taxi driver during a trip through city streets.
You are asked to explain a healthcare administration/system policy (check with me if you are unsure if your policy counts. I will not accept a straight public health/public information campaign. It must involve healthcare management in some way.Selecta policy that is of particular interest to you (national, state, or city level) using the Taxi Driver Pitch, making sure to hit all of the steps on the Eightfold Path.
It should be concise, like you are talking to a Taxi Driver.
Response Post
Responding to someone who chose a different health policy than you, I want you to tie in what we covered in the Porche reading. Critique their pitch and make sure to point out which branch(s) of the government would need to be/were involved with this policy. What would you recommend to strength the pitch?
