COMP$3020$ Social Web Analytics

$1$ Aim

The Group Project provides you with a chance to analyse the Social Web using knowledge obtained from this unit and a computer based$-$statistical package. For this project, we will focus on identifying a chosen topic from the Social Media space such as Reddit or Mastodon.

$2$ Method

To complete this project:

$1.$ Read through this entire specification.

$2.$ Form a group of $3$ or $4$ people and inform your instructor about the chosen group member.

$3.$ Navigate to the link $[$ Group Project Topic Selection $]$

You can find the above link from the left panel of vUWS subject page under the Communication Zone.

$4.$ One group member must create a reply POST outlining the chosen topic and group members detail $($i$.$e$.$ Student ID and Full Name$).$

NOTE: Once a topic is chosen by one of the groups, OTHER group MUST select different topic.

$5.$ Read the Project Task Description outlined in Section $8$ of this document carefully.

$6.$ Complete the data analysis according to the Project Tasks requirements.

$7.$ Write up your analysis using WORD or PDF file.

$8.$ Include the student declaration text on the front page of your report. Please make sure that the names and student numbers of each group member are displayed on the front page. If a group member did not contribute to any part of the project, state their contribution as $0\%($no contribution means $0$ marks$).$

$9.$ ONLY ONE of the Group member will need to submit the report through the Group Project Submission link on vUWS. $[$ Group Project Submission$]$

$11.$ Submit the report $[$WORD $/$ PDF file ONLY $]$ using the Group Project Submission link.

$12.$ All R code and the Program outputs, including any images must be INCLUDED $/$ SHOWN in the Report. The CODE MUST be clearly visible.

$3$ Group Size and Organisation

Students in groups of size $3$ or $4$ are to work together to complete this project. One project report is to be submitted per group.

$4$ Due date and Submission

The project report is due by $11$:$59$ p$.$m$.$ on Friday of week $13(20$th of October$).$ The report must be submitted as a WORD$/$PDF file using the assignment submission facilities in the Group Project Submission in vUWS. Only one student from each group needs to submit the assignment. You can re$-$submit your assignment if you are unhappy with your previous submission. Only the last submitted file will be marked. Also make sure ONLY one group member should do all the upload and re$-$upload of the repeated submissions.

$5$ Report Format

Once the required analysis is performed by the group, the members of the group are to write up the analysis as a report. Remember that the marker will only see the group's report and will be marking the group's

analysis based on your report $($R file should not be submitted however screenshot of the code is required in the pdf file$).$ Therefore, the report should contain a clear and concise description of the procedures carried out, comments on the code, explanations of what you tried to do$,$ the analysis of results and any conclusions reached from the analysis. Include ALL R code along with its output in your assignment. Output without the code, or code without the output, will result in zero marks for the relevant section.

The R code should not be copy $-$ pasted to a Word file, it must be a screenshot from your console $($or RScript$)$ along with its output. Don't take a screenshot of full page of your R Studio screen $-$ this would not be readable.

The required analysis in this specification covers the material presented in lectures and labs. Students should use the computer software R to carry out the required analysis and then present the results from the analysis in the report.

$6$ Marks

This project is worth $25\%$ of your final grade, and so the project will be marked out of $25.$ The project consists tasks and marking scheme is available in the Project Tasks section.

There are two marks allocated to the presentation $($based on the report formatting, style, grammar, clarity and mathematical notation$).$ If the report looks like something that would be submitted to an employer, then the full two marks will be awarded.

If a report is submitted late, the maximum mark it can achieve will be reduced by $10\%$ per day $(2\mathrm{.}5$ marks per day$).$

$7$ Declaration

The following declaration must be included in a clearly visible and readable place on the first page of the report.
