It has been a bit of a wild week for me. I had problems - x2 -5x + 6 = 0 and - 2x2 + x - 16 = 0 To solve x2 -5x + 6 = 0 The coefficients would be as follows: a=1 b= -5 c=6 I would then need to plug those into the quadratic formula of x=bb24ac /2(a) -- I haven't figured out the keyboard shortcuts to type this out yet. x=5-5squared4(1)(6) ---- 5 becomes positive because the quadratic formula specified -b. The number is already negative so -(-5) would be +5. to simplify -5 +/- the square root of 25+(-24) / (2)(1) -5 +/- square root of 1 / 2 to find both solutions we will need to do the following -5+ 1 / 2 and -5 -1 /2 -5+1 = -4/2 = -2 and -5-1=-6/2 = -3 x=-2 and x=-3
