GUIDELINES FOR ASSESSMENT 2 GROUP CASE STUDY ANALYSIS Word Limit: 2000 words. Due: week 9 Format: Report Assessment type: Group work ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION AS A GROUP YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ANALYZE THE CASE STUDY TITLED "PLANNING AND ORGANISING THE TRANSITION AT TOYOTA AUSTRALIA" (pages 329-330 from the prescribed textbook) The case study is uploaded in the Assessment Briefs section. As a group, you are required to read and understand the case study clearly. You need to answer the following questions using examples from the case study and supporting your discussion with relevant academic journal references. Each question should not be answered as a question but use topic sentences. For example, instead of Q1 use a topic sentence. Hence, each answer must start in a new paragraph. The following questions serve as a guideline: 1. Identify key issues that Toyota management had to address for a smooth transition. Using relevant theories provide suitable recommendations for each of the issues addressed. 2. Using relevant theories of Planning and Goal setting discuss two goal- setting strategies implemented by Toyota management for a smooth transition. 3. Discuss strategies used by Toyota management to implement the principle of Respect for People and Continuous improvement. The report must include the following sections: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This section is written after you complete writing the case study. The objective of this section is to summarise the whole report which should include the objective of the report, a summary of the key points addressed, key issues addressed, and recommendations. INTRODUCTION In this section, you introduce the case to your reader by discussing the organization's profile. It is important you use relevant theories that demonstrate your understanding of the theories and skills you have used to apply to the case. For example, is Toyota a large organisation? How do you conclude this? So, the size of an organisation is determined by the number of employees, or divisions need to find evidence within the case study to support your discussion. IDENTIFICATION OF KEY ISSUES Using the above questions as guidelines this section must be answered using subtitles. There are three questions so three subtitles must be used. This is an important section therefore your discussion and arguments must be supported with relevant theories and research from academic journals. Definitions of different concepts must be included in this section. Critical thinking is required in this section. Intext, referencing is important and must follow the Harvard style. CONCLUSIONS This section is the opposite of the introduction. In this section, you are required to highlight your learning in doing this assessment task. As a group what were the key learnings? For example, the key learnings could include the importance of key points you have addressed, the importance of teamwork, the challenges, etc. RECOMMENDATIONS This is the last section of the report and plays an important role. In this section, you are required to make recommendations for each issue that you have identified. Please note recommendations need to be practical and implementable. You need to clearly explain why you your recommendation will help resolve the issue you have identified. REFERENCING You need to follow the Harvard Referencing style. All references must have complete information. Please do not cut and paste from other references. It will increase your similarity percentages. Paraphrasing in your own words is important and you can avoid academic misconduct. Keep the academic language simple with correct grammar.
