Guidelines for the Human Resource (HR) Interview Project

The overall objective of this project is to help students gain a better understanding of the extent and nature of a specific area/function in Human Resource Management within an organization. The project requires each student to interview an HR professional about their organizations HR practices and competitive advantage. Below is an outline of each content element, requirements, and formatting guidelines.

Students are required to use the HR Interview Project Template for this assignment.

Four (4) Content Elements

Element-1: HR Interview Project Overview

This paragraph provides readers with an overview of the organization selected for the project. The following information is required in the first paragraph: name, location, and the mission of the organization; type of organization (e.g., not-for-profit organization, publicly traded corporation, private corporation, government agency); number of employees; reason you selected the organization.

Element-2: The Human Resource Professional

This paragraph describes the human resource (HR) professional interviewed for the project. The following information is required in the second paragraph: HR professionals name, title/position within the organization, and his/her credentials (education and experience). Students are free to include additional information specifically related to the interviewee.

Element-3: The Interview

This section provides readers with information specifically related to the actual interview. The following information is required in this paragraph: date, time, and method of the interview (method relates to Zoom, in-person, telephone, etc.); HR area/function the interview focused on; the reason for selecting the HR area/function. This element requires sub paragraphs which clearly identifies all five (5) legal questions submitted earlier in the course. A summary of interviewees responses to each question is also required.

Element-4: Impression & Personal Reflection

This paragraph requires each student to discuss their impression of the competitive advantage of an organizations HR strategies based upon the information gathered during the interview. Students are also required to reflect on the interview and explain how both the experience and knowledge obtained from this project could be applied to their personal and/or professional lives.

Key Formatting Guidelines

Students are required to use the HR Interview Project Template for this assignment. This is the best way to ensure the project is properly formatted (double-line spacing; 12-point font size; 1-inch margins all around; running head; proper heading; project title; indented paragraphs).

Each project is required to be at least 2-full pages, but no more than 3-full pages.
